Since September 2007 I have stopped submitting cargo and freight related news. At least until further notice.
My reason is the website experienced thousands of visits, but unfortunately no participation. I had to focus my efforts on other projects that that would provide a positive response from users and as well as a financial one. After one year that has not happened here, virtually no response, emails or feedback causes me to terminate my efforts. The AhoyCargo forum became popular only with the spam and porn people. Maybe someone can help me with some suggestions. Any Ideas?

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Speed Global Services, a global supply management company specializing in transportation services, international freight forwarding and warehousing and fulfillment, has announced the approval of their Foreign Trade Zone or “FTZ” site at 2299 Kenmore Avenue, Buffalo, New York.
A Foreign Trade Zone is a designated site at which special customs procedures for imports can be used. These procedures allow domestic activity involving imported items to take place prior to formal customs entry. This advantage allows companies to alter or package product and do so nearer to the end user. FTZ can provide them with an alternative to a costly domestic distribution center. Other advantages include duty-free treatment, which is accorded to items that are re-exported from the FTZ and duty deferral, in which duty payments are delayed on items sold in the U.S. market, allowing companies to realize increased cash flow. |

Kenworth Clean Power Technology To Visit Capitol Hill Wednesday, Sept. 19, Helps Reduce Emissions and Saves Fuel.
A new “green” system for big rigs that may help revolutionize the trucking industry will visit Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Sept. 19, as part of a national, 5-month tour by Kenworth Truck Company, a leading truck manufacturer in Kirkland, Wash.
The media is invited to view the new Kenworth Clean Power™ no-idle system. Members of Congress and their staffs have also been invited. The system is installed in the bright green Kenworth T660 tour truck, which will be parked on Maryland Ave. S.W. (near First Ave. S.W. and across from the U.S. Botanic Garden Conservatory) from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 19.
Truckers typically idle their truck’s engine when parked overnight to cool or heat the sleeper. Every idling hours burns about one gallon of diesel fuel. The typical on-highway truck idles 1,800 hours annually for an additional cost of $5,400 at $3 per gallon. Idling also generates engine emissions and noise.
Kenworth Clean Power saves fuel and may enhance fuel economy by as much as 8% for trucks with high idling times, while also reducing noise from idling. The system’s four dedicated, advanced deep-cycle batteries power a thermal storage cooler with 21,000 BTUs of cooling capacity. |
