ATLANTA – General Freight Services, Inc. announced today it has been named one of America’s growth leaders by Inc. Magazine, which recently released its 2007 Inc. 5,000 ranking of the nation’s fastest growing private companies. General Freight Services has achieved a 161.8 percent growth over the past four years and is ranked in the list among the top transportation and logistics companies. “General Freight Services continues to be recognized in the industry and in business for outstanding performance,” said Dan Smith, Chairman and CEO. “We expect our pace of accelerated growth to continue as we add services and capabilities for our customers and seek opportunities for strategic acquisitions.”
According to the listing in Inc. Magazine, General Freight Services’ growth is due in part to the fact that the company recently, “opened a global logistics division to offer clients import and export services, transloading, cross-docking, warehousing, international drayage, and customs brokering.” This marks the inaugural year for Inc. Magazine’s list of 5,000, which expands its well-respected Inc. 500 rankings. The Inc. 5000 catches many businesses that are too big to grow at the pace required to make the Inc. 500, as well as a host of smaller firms.
Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy. To qualify, companies had to be U.S.-based, privately held and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2003 and $2 million in 2006. About General Freight Services, Inc.
